This past week, students worked on their campaign commercials for the upcoming school election. Groups had filmed and most are completing the editing stage. Next week, we will be preparing for the second debate, which will look at issues at the local school level.
Students continued with their novel study on the City of Ember. All work up to and including Ch. 6 was due this week.
Guidance counsellors from Forest Lawn High School gave grade 9 students an information presentation on high school course selection and experiences on Tuesday. They will be returning to sign students up for their exploratory courses next week.

Last week, students were tasked with finishing their flyers and group posters for the school political campaign. All unfinished work was assigned for homework. This week, students are working in their political parties to plan and record an audio or visual commercial to use during their campaign.
Students should be finished all work for the City of Ember novel study by Wednesday. Students will also be visited on Tuesday by staff from Forest Lawn who will be giving a presentation on enrollment and course selection. There is no school for students on Friday.

This past week, students focused on preparation for the debate portion of the political campaign. Research outlines were due on Thursday February 7th. The debate will occur next week, on Wednesday February 13th. Next week, students will also continue their novel studies for the City of Ember. As of today, all assignments up to and including Ch. 2 should have been submitted to the teacher. On Friday, this week, students watched the documentary "In Defense of Food" as part of their health curriculum. Students completed an assignment related to key vocabulary with regard to The Western Diet, processed foods, type - 11 diabetes, and a well balanced, nutritional diet.
